Belen to La Rioja – 763 kms with 278 kms special test

Stage ten will take the competitors away from the dunes around Fiambala, this stage is the highest mileage of off-piste rallying on the event. The heat will certainly play a factor, which it has for the last couple of days.  which will suit the desert specialists down to the ground.


Sainz and Price were the first to lay tracks, but they were not the eventual winners on the day.  Reports from the Dakar news said that the riders were forced to take a 15 minute break at the checkpoint in a refrigerated van to combat the heat in today’s stage. Proving the heat in this years Dakar is a major factor. Riding in the heat can be an arduous task and usually just keeps riders from attacking as they might if the conditions were cooler. But the heat definitely favors those who are prepared to deal with it. And today the KTM Slovakian rider Svitko was definitely ready to race in the heat as he stormed to his first overall victory slotting into 2nd behind Toby price in the overall. As it stands now Price still holds a solid lead going into the final stages.

In the cars, Sainz and Loeb had there own troubles while Stephane Peterhansel took full advantage with a win and now has a one hour lead according to the Dakar Rally news.
